This document outlines the standard procedures and practices applicable to all students enrolled in the B.Ed program at St. Joseph’s Training College. Adherence to this code of conduct, along with its associated duties, responsibilities, and restrictions, is mandatory for every student. The code is designed to foster the development of students through a combination of individual and collective responsibility. It is imperative that all students thoroughly acquaint themselves with this code, which is readily accessible on the official website of the college.
Code of conduct for Students
1. Prevent damage to institutional property.
2. Always wear college ID-card.
3. Dress decently and ensure regular attendance.
4. Follow submission schedules for assignments and projects.
5. Be honest in academic activities.
6. Participate in educational tours and maintain discipline.
7. Switch off mobile phones in classrooms, labs, and the library.
8. Use student washrooms and ensure cleanliness.
9. Comply with institutional code to avoid disciplinary action.
10. Attend class daily and be punctual.
11. Arrive at college five minutes before the morning assembly.
Seek permission from the Principal if late, for leave, or for half-day absences.
13. Absence for more than 10 days without notification results in automatic removal from the rolls.
14. No visitors during working hours.
15. Dress modestly.
16. Do not leave the campus during lunch breaks.
17. Obtain permission to use electronic devices.
18. No unauthorized collections of money or kind.
19. Pay fines for damaging property.
20. Obtain permission for meetings, publications, and test exemptions.
21. No malpractices during exams.
22. Maintain courtesy and respect.
23. Avoid any anti-institutional, anti-national, anti-social, communal, immoral, or political activities, including ragging.
24. Participate in all college activities.
Code of Conduct for Principal
1. Lead the institution in line with its motto, vision, and mission.
2. Ensure academic growth and holistic development of faculty.
3. Oversee admissions, discipline, and administration.
4. Conduct free and fair exams.
5. Adhere to regulations and maintain correct accounts.
6. Encourage faculty development and convene regular meetings.
Code of conduct for teaching staff
- Each teacher must fulfill their responsibilities with efficiency and diligence, adhering to the academic standards and performance criteria set by the College, University, and Government as they evolve over time.
- Each teacher is expected to consistently uphold dignity and decorum in their interactions with superiors, colleagues, and students.
- Teachers must not be absent from their duties without prior permission from higher authorities. Additionally, all teachers should be available to assist and guide students beyond regular class hours, without expecting any remuneration or reward.
- Teachers are obligated to fulfill their assigned duties without disrupting regular teaching hours. It is mandatory for all teachers to be physically present and actively engage with their classes during scheduled teaching hours. Any deviation from the allocated class time will not be tolerated, and arrangements must be made to ensure classes proceed as usual in the event of teacher absence from the College.
- Thorough preparation for classes is essential, and teachers must demonstrate competence and confidence in their profession. They should strive to foster an inclusive educational environment where every student feels valued and respected. Discrimination based on caste, creed, religion, gender, or socio-economic status is strictly prohibited, and teachers must refrain from exhibiting partiality or vindictive behavior towards any student.
- Teachers are tasked with acknowledging the diversity in aptitude and capabilities among students, and they should endeavor to address individual needs accordingly. It is important to motivate students to enhance their achievements, nurture their personalities, and actively participate in community welfare initiatives.
- It is incumbent upon all teachers to inspire students to cultivate a deeper interest in learning and foster a spirit of inquiry in their quest for knowledge.
- Aligned with the college’s mission and vision, every teacher should imbue students with a scientific and democratic mindset, as well as a reverence for physical labor, cultivating community-oriented, patriotic, and open-minded individuals. It is the social responsibility of teachers to facilitate students in comprehending our national heritage and aspiring toward national goals.
- Each teacher should acknowledge that education is a public service and make efforts to keep the public informed about the educational programs being offered.
- Every teacher should endeavor to enhance education within the community, thereby enriching the community’s moral and intellectual fabric. This includes fulfilling the duties of citizenship, actively participating in community activities, and willingly undertaking responsibilities associated with public offices.
- Teachers are prohibited from engaging in any behavior, whether within or outside the College Campus, that contradicts standards of decency or morality. Additionally, publishing comments in the name of the College on social media platforms without prior permission from the Head of the institution is strictly prohibited.
- Teachers are expected to refrain from engaging in any behavior that degrades, harasses, or insults any individual, regardless of the reason. Moreover, they must conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the dignity and integrity of the teaching profession at all times.
- Every teacher is responsible for regularly updating their knowledge and skills to enhance their professional capabilities, ensuring they can effectively fulfill their assigned duties and contribute to the benefit of the student community.
- Teachers are encouraged to freely and openly express their opinions by actively participating in professional meetings, seminars, conferences, and similar forums, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge.
- Developing new teaching strategies, curriculum enhancements, and planning for an upgraded academic system should be integral components of every teacher’s professional duties.
- Teachers are expected to fulfill the institution’s educational responsibilities, which include conducting admissions, providing guidance and counseling to students, and assisting in the administration of examinations. Additionally, they should actively participate in extracurricular activities such as sports, extension activities, and cultural programs organized by the College. This holistic approach fosters the overall development of students and promotes a harmonious relationship between teachers and students.
- All faculty members of the College are automatically members of the College’s Alumnae Association.
- Regular interactions with the guardians of students are essential for the improvement of both the students and the institution.
- Teachers are obligated to respect the confidentiality of all information related to exam affairs, as well as matters involving colleagues and students, unless legally or legitimately required to disclose such information.
- Teachers should demonstrate respect and cooperation towards their colleagues, actively assisting them and sharing responsibilities in a collaborative manner.
- Teachers are prohibited from participating in any organized anti-institutional activity and must refrain from promoting, abetting, assisting, or motivating any unhealthy activity against the College Management. It is mandatory for all teachers to adhere to the CMC Education Policy of the Management CMI.
