Energy Conservation and Management

In alignment with the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, St. Joseph’s Training College, Pavaratty, affirms its commitment to promoting energy efficiency, sustainability, and the use of alternative energy sources. The college has implemented a comprehensive Environment and Energy Usage Policy to manage energy systematically while minimizing environmental impact.

  1. Solar Power Generation
    • A 10 kW solar power plant with 26 high-efficiency photovoltaic panels installed on campus.
    • Annual generation: approx. 11,784 kWh, offsetting 9.3 tons of CO₂ emissions.
    • Surplus energy is shared with the neighboringSt. Joseph’s Arts College, promoting renewable energy collaboration.
  2. Paperless Office through E-Solution
    • Implementation of E-Solution, a dedicated software system that enables a digital workflow, significantly reducing paper consumption.
  3. Encouragement of Eco-friendly Transportation
    • Promotion of bicycles and E-vehicles on campus.
    • Provision of four 20 Amp EV charging power plugs and dedicated parking, all free of charge for students and staff.
  4. Energy-Efficient Campus Design
    • Installation of LED lighting systems and energy-efficient electrical appliances across campus buildings.
    • Natural lighting and ventilation integrated into architectural design to reduce energy usage.
  5. Awareness and Student Participation
    • Integration of energy literacy into co-curricular activities and campus campaigns.
    • Students are encouraged to participate in green practices such as planting indoor and outdoor greenery.
